The Talent Agenda Series Delegate Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions are applicable to all Global Career Company events including Talent Agenda Series conferences, webinars, development programmes, seminars, receptions and workshops. Global Career Company reserves the right to alter, amend or add to any of these conditions. Should any question arise, whether provided for in these conditions or not, the decision of the Global Career Company shall be final.
Section 1: General information
Services
The Services, including all online, offline and event aspects, are owned and organised by Global Career Company who has sole responsibility for the strict application of the provisions of these regulations. Global Career Company does not guarantee the number or identity of individuals or organisations present at its events and will not be held liable for the absence of any named or unnamed attendee.
Registration
Registrations for Global Career Company events are made via a booking form or via the Talent Agenda Series website. Once you have signed or checked the box to accept these terms and conditions we will consider a booking to have been made and these terms will be enforceable. Although fees for the events are correct at the time of publication Global Career Company reserves the right to change the fees at any time but changes will not affect registrations which have already been confirmed by Global Career Company.
Unless specifically stated otherwise you are responsible for paying your own travel, accommodation and subsistence costs when attending a Global Career Company event. Global Career Company reserves the right to adjust the timings, speaker-line up and format of an event.
Payment
Payment for Global Career Company events can be made in £ sterling, USD US Dollars or key local currencies as specified on the booking form and can be made by credit card or invoice. Payment is due within 7 days of the date of the invoice or on the payment due date if one has been specified whichever is the shorter. If any payments are outstanding on the day of the event then you may not be denied entry.
If you do not attend an event you will still be liable for the full fee. Please see section on cancellations and transfers below.
Global Career Company reserves the right to claim interest, compensation and reasonable costs under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 and it is agreed that the term implied by that Act shall apply after any judgment as well as before. Any reference to the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 is also a reference to any amendment, modification or re-enactment of it. If for any reason the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 does not apply, interest shall be payable on overdue amounts at 8% over the Bank of England Base Rate from time to time.
Without prejudice to Global Career Company’s right to claim costs under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, if for any reason any payment is not made when due Global Career Company reserves the right to be paid on an indemnity basis any costs incurred in recovering any money due under this contract (and the costs of recovering such costs) including administrative costs and any costs incurred with lawyers or debt collection agencies. Global Career Company’s administrative costs may include the cost of employing the staff concerned and the overheads attributable to them for the time spent. In calculating administrative costs credit will be given for any compensation due under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
UK VAT at the rate of 20% will only be payable by a delegate who is based in the UK and/or whose invoices are to be sent within the UK. Where invoices are to be sent to a country whose government levies a Withholding Tax, the respective rate of Withholding Tax will be added to the chargeable fees on all invoices and should be paid in full by the delegate as per the terms above.

What if I need to cancel or amend my booking?
All requests to cancel or amend a booking must be made in writing.
Cancellations: Cancellations received more than 21 days before an event are subject to a handling and administration fee of 20%. Global Career Company does not offer refunds, so we will offer you a credit note for the remainder of the fee. This credit note can be used against a future Global Career Company event that takes place within xx months of the credit note being raised. This may be used by anyone from your organisation. Cancellations received 21 days or less before an event are subject to the full event fee.
Participant transfers: If you cannot attend an event you can transfer your place to a colleague from your institution. Substitutions on the day of the event are made at Global Career Company’s discretion. You are not able to transfer your place to another event without the express agreement of Global Career Company.
Non-attendance: It is your responsibility to attend the event for which you are registered. Global Career Company does not offer a credit note for non-attendance.
What if the event is postponed or cancelled?
If, for reasons beyond our control, we need to alter the date of the event we will offer you the choice of a free transfer to the new date or a credit note to the value of the booking that can be used against another Global Career Company event (taking place within 12 months of the credit note being raised).
If, due to floods, lightning, storm, fire, explosion, war, military operations, acts of terrorism or threats of any such acts, any strike action, lock-outs or other industrial action and a pandemic, epidemic or other widespread illness, the event is cancelled we will offer you a credit note that can be used against a future Global Career Company event (taking place within 24 months of the credit note being raised). However, Global Career Company will retain up to 50% of the fee to cover administration costs. Should an event be cancelled or postponed we will not be liable for any costs (eg travel or accommodation) or inconvenience that you may have incurred.
Contract
Global Career Company may assign the Contract Details or any rights thereunder without the consent of the delegate. The delegate may not assign the Contract Details or any rights thereunder without Global Career Company's prior written consent.
No failure or delay by either party in exercising any of its rights under the Contract Details shall be deemed to be a waiver of that right, and no waiver by either party of any breach of the Contract Details by the other shall be considered as a waiver of any subsequent breach of the same or any other provision.
You formally agree to obey all clauses of these regulations. The provisions will be strictly enforced and are not to be deemed as merely advisory. Global Career Company has the sole responsibility of deciding upon the measures to be taken for the application of such clauses.
Any provision of these Conditions held by any competent authority to be invalid shall be severable and shall to the extent necessary to prevent invalidity be deemed to be omitted from these Conditions and any liability which would otherwise have been excluded or limited shall nevertheless be subject to the remaining provision
These Conditions shall in all respects be construed and take effect in accordance with English Law and the parties agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts
Section 2: Protecting your data
Global Career Company is committed to safeguarding and respecting your privacy.
Our mission is to “unlock and enable the power of Africa’s talent”, specifically in relation to helping businesses build and retain a high performing workforce and HR function. We only collect personal information for the purposes of our mission and objectives. If we process your personal data, including storing your data or contacting you, we do so because we believe your profession or interests relate to our mission and is therefore of benefit to you as well as the wider public.
Our legal basis for processing your personal data is ‘legitimate interest’ and is processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK data protection law. What personal data do we collect from you and why?
When you register for a Global Career Company event we request the following pieces of information, so we can keep you informed about the event to which you’ve registered.

Job title
Company name
Work postal address
Work phone number (landline and mobile)
Email
We will also ask you for any ‘Accessibility Requirements’ and whether you have any allergies, intolerances or dietary restrictions. This information allows us to fulfil your requirements when attending an event. These pieces of data are considered to be ‘Special Category Data’ and therefore more sensitive than personal data. When registering for an event we will ask you to give us explicit consent so that we can process this data for the specific purposes of arranging suitable catering for you and ensuring that you have equal access to all aspects/areas of the event.
We routinely take photographs at our events of speakers and participants. Your face is ‘biometric information’ and therefore special category data under GDPR. When registering for an event we will ask you to give us explicit consent so that we can process this data for the specific purposes of:
Using event photos on social media (LinkedIn and Twitter)
Using event photos on any Global Career Company website
Using event photos on future marketing collateral (such as brochures)
It is your responsibility to provide up-to-date contact and other information at registration and to maintain that data by advising Global Career Company of any changes.
What do we use your personal data for?
We use your personal data to enable us to keep in touch with you about the event to which you’ve registered and to fulfil your requirements when attending the event – for example by ensuring that your dietary requirements are met. When we use or work with third party service providers, event partners, subcontractors and other associated organisations we disclose only the personal data that is necessary to deliver the service. We will have a contract in place that requires them to comply with GDPR when processing your personal data.
In those instances where an event is supported by one or more sponsors we will ask for your explicit consent before sharing your personal data (specifically name and contact details) with the sponsor(s).
Will we use your personal data for reasons unconnected with the event for which you have registered?
When you register for an event we will add your details to our database and we will send you communications if and when we believe your profession or interest relate to our mission. How can you change your preferences, opt-out or update the data we hold on you?
If you would like to change your preferences about the information we send you or opt-out altogether from receiving communications about the work we do, you can.

Breach of Equality and Diversity Policy
Global Career Company will take seriously any instances of alleged non-adherence to the Equality and Diversity policy by staff, members, subscribers or visitors. Any alleged breaches of this policy should be reported to the Chief Executive who will investigate and take appropriate action where necessary.
