David Leahy, Partner, KPMG AFRICA

David is a partner in KPMG Africa responsible for leading Governance, Risk and Compliance services in the East Africa region. He has over twenty years of experience in the governance, risk, internal audit, sustainability and compliance profession.

David joined KPMG from Qatar Petroleum, an international energy company in the Arabian Gulf, where he worked for five years in the company’s internal audit and risk department.  Prior to this, David worked in the internal audit department for Trans Canada Pipelines in Canada, as well as working for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Canada and KPMG in Canada and Wales.

He provides a full spectrum of board advisory, corporate governance, enterprise risk management, sustainability and internal audit services. 

David has extensive experience in the following industries: energy, manufacturing, telecommunications, banking, insurance and finance, media, agriculture, casino, government and non-profit organizations.

David has advised boards of government agencies, regulator authorities, banks, manufacturing companies, media companies, NGOs, amongst others.

David is a past member of the board of Fairtrade Africa and TradeMark East Africa.
